We recommend a Windows 10 Professional (or higher) system with a processor speed of 3.0 GHz or above and at least 16 GB of RAM. An Intel i5 or higher is ideal. Performance improves significantly with faster processors and additional memory. Multiple USB ports are recommended. For realtime connectivity with older stenographic writers, a serial port or a compatible serial adapter (PC card or USB) may be required.

EclipseVox | AccuCapVox

We recommend a processor such as AMD R7+ or Intel i7+, operating at 3.5 GHz or higher, paired with a minimum of 16 GB RAM and a solid-state drive (SSD). Dragon 16 and expert system configuration are also essential. To ensure optimal performance, background processes should be minimized.

RAM:

• Recommended: 32 GB
• Docker is required to run Speechmatics. When both Docker and Eclipse are active, system memory usage can exceed 10 GB. We recommend at least 32 GB of RAM to maintain system performance while multitasking.

Storage:

• Recommended: 1 TB SSD
• Minimum: 500 GB SSD

Mac Users

Eclipse requires a Mac with an Intel i5 or i7 processor and a minimum of 16 GB RAM.

Eclipse runs on macOS via Windows 10, using either Boot Camp or Parallels. We strongly recommend Boot Camp, as it allows your Mac to boot directly into Windows, providing a more stable experience comparable to a dedicated Windows laptop.

While Parallels is a powerful virtualization tool, we do not recommend using it for Eclipse. Running both macOS and Windows simultaneously consumes significant system resources. Our extensive testing has shown issues such as system freezes, writer connectivity problems, and trouble with plug-and-play devices (e.g., external mouse). In short, using Parallels may lead to instability outside of our control.

M1 and M2 Macs are not compatible with Eclipse due to their inability to run x86-based operating systems.
